Corruption is a negative phenomenon and a serious threat to the development of society

Today, corruption is one of the global problems and a major obstacle to the sustainable development of society. This negative phenomenon affects all areas of government authority and administration and poses a direct threat to national security. Corruption often leads to increased social inequality, reduced public trust in government institutions, and the weakening of the protection of constitutional rights. Thus, corruption seriously impacts economic development, the financial system, and all state structures.

Since gaining independence, the fight against corruption has become one of the strategic goals and priorities of the state policy of the Republic of Tajikistan. The Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Combating Corruption" (2020) defines corruption as unlawful actions by officials aimed at gaining personal benefit or benefit for others, and outlines ways to prevent and combat it.

To combat corruption, several regulatory acts and state programs have been adopted and implemented in Tajikistan, including:

The Anti-Corruption Strategy for 2008–2012;

The Anti-Corruption Strategy for 2013–2020;

The National Anti-Corruption Strategy until 2030.

The main principles of these strategies include: adherence to the rule of law, prioritization of human and civil rights and freedoms, transparency in government operations, consideration of public opinion, and recognition of corruption as a major threat to national security. These measures aim to create a climate of intolerance toward corruption and strengthen cooperation between the state and society.

The National Testing Center under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan implements anti-corruption programs by increasing public legal awareness through seminars, meetings, and information campaigns. Thus, informing and educating all segments of society plays an important role in this direction.

Combating corruption must be a comprehensive and coordinated effort involving all state bodies and civil society. Only by strengthening legal culture, raising anti-corruption literacy, and promoting active public participation can sustainable development, national security, and government transparency be achieved. With strong political will and joint efforts, Tajikistan is capable of creating a corruption-free and fair environment for work and life, contributing to the country’s positive development.
